Overview
mPING is a citizen science project that collects geotagged, time stamped reports of weather conditions near the surface. These observations are used by NOAA and NSSL scientist and NWS forecasters to develop better analyses of current conditions and better forecasts of future conditions. But the project has also been designed to display these reports to anyone that wants to see them, whether you are a meteorologist, storm tracker, weather fanatic or just happen to be looking up at the sky. Your observations can be submitted using the free mPING mobile application found on both the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store. Reports can be viewed within the app and reports are always available to be viewed at mping.ou.edu.
If you would like further access to our entire database of archived reports we offer that as well. Additionally, you are invited to use the mPING API to include the ability to both submit and view mPING reports within your own third-party apps.
